A dramatic fire erupted early Thursday morning near Taunton, causing extensive destruction to 200 tonnes of wood and woodchip. The blaze broke out at around 12:24 a.m. in Henlade, within the TA3 postcode area just off the A358.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue deployed four fire engines at the peak of the incident and continue to maintain a presence on site. Thick smoke from the burning timber has significantly affected the surrounding area.
Officials are advising local residents to keep their windows and doors closed throughout the day to minimize smoke inhalation risks.
