Massive Dog Show Draws 7,000 Competitors Battling for Top Honors

The West Country is gearing up for one of its largest dog shows this Spring Bank Holiday weekend, as dog lovers and pet owners gather to celebrate canine excellence. The Bath Canine Society Championship dog show will take place from Friday, 23 May to Monday, 26 May at the Three Shires Field in Bannerdown, Bath, showcasing over 7,000 dogs competing for the coveted Best In Show title and a chance to qualify for Crufts 2026.

With over 200 pedigree breeds on display, attendees will have a unique opportunity to learn about various breeds, their temperaments, care needs, and suitability as family pets. Whether you’re a seasoned dog owner or considering adding a puppy to your family, this event is the perfect occasion to gain expert insights.

The competition spans four days, each dedicated to different breed groups:

  • Friday 23 May: Utility & Hound breeds
  • Saturday 24 May: Toy & Terrier breeds
  • Sunday 25 May: Gundog breeds
  • Monday 26 May: Working & Pastoral breeds

Visitors can also visit The Kennel Club Roadshow stand, opening at 8:30 am daily, where canine experts offer advice on a wide range of topics—from dog showing and agility activities to health testing, puppy registration, and locating responsible breeders.

Celebrating its 96th year, the Bath Canine Society’s Championship show attracts entries from across the country and welcomes visitors to bring their own dogs. All dogs must be at least four months old, kept on leads, and registered with the Secretary upon arrival. Entry for dogs is £5 each, and parking is available onsite for £10 per day.

Throughout the event, spectators can enjoy breed judging, engage with breeders and owners, meet an array of dogs, and explore numerous trade stands offering dog-related products.
