Police have uncovered a large-scale cannabis cultivation operation in Weston-super-Mare, seizing over 230 plants with an estimated street value of £200,000. The discovery came after officers executed a warrant at a property on Amberey Road, acting on tips from concerned members of the public.
The investigation began when locals reported suspicious activity suggesting the property was being used to grow cannabis, a Class B drug. Utilizing powers granted under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, officers conducted a thorough search and found 237 cannabis plants along with extensive growing equipment. All items have been confiscated.
No arrests have been made yet, but inquiries to identify those responsible are ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward to assist the investigation.

Avon and Somerset Police highlighted the serious risks associated with illegal cannabis cultivation, including links to modern slavery, criminal activity, and fire hazards. They emphasized the importance of community vigilance and awareness of indicators that a property might be involved in drug production.
A police statement read: “More than 230 cannabis plants have been seized from a property suspected of being used for cultivation in Weston-super-Mare. Officers executed a warrant under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act at Amberey Road on Friday, 19 September. Alongside the plants, a significant amount of cultivation equipment was also confiscated. Following several reports from the public, officers secured the warrant to take action.”
