Massive 40,000sq ft Tesco Superstore Planned in Wiltshire Town with Parkland Setting

A new 40,000-square-foot Tesco superstore is set to transform the outskirts of Devizes, Wiltshire, as part of an exciting new retail park development. The plans, which include a mix of retail and leisure amenities, will be unveiled to the public during a consultation event this week.

The proposed site, described by developers as a “parkland setting,” will feature scenic lakes and trees alongside the Tesco store. Additional facilities include a drive-through Starbucks and a DIY store, enhancing the retail offering for local residents.

Tesco’s new store promises to create between 75 and 80 new jobs, offering amenities such as an in-store bakery, health and beauty section, clothing department, cash machines, and services like click-and-collect and home delivery. The store is expected to operate from 7am to 11pm, providing convenient shopping hours to the community.

Robert Cort Properties, based in Reading, are the developers behind this project. They previously secured planning permission on appeal to build a business park on the site. When the initial business park plans failed to gain sufficient support, the developers shifted focus towards this mixed retail proposal.

The site, named Moonraker Business Park and located off Horton Road, is adjacent to land earmarked for a £10 million Aldi store and another drive-through coffee outlet.

An initial online consultation on the plans for three new retail outlets has already taken place. Now residents have the opportunity to view detailed plans and engage directly with the developers at a public consultation event at Devizes Corn Exchange. This event will be held on Tuesday, July 7, from 1pm to 7:30pm.

Community members are encouraged to attend to ask questions and provide feedback. Following this, a formal planning application is expected to be submitted in September, moving the project one step closer to reality.
