Marks & Spencer Sets Grand Opening Date for New Cabot Circus Flagship Store

Marks & Spencer has officially announced the opening date for its highly anticipated new flagship store at Cabot Circus, Bristol. The expansive 80,000 sq ft outlet will take over the former House of Fraser site, which has stood vacant since August 2024.

After months of teasing an “autumn 2025” arrival, M&S confirmed the store will open its doors on Thursday, 13 November—just five weeks away. The store spans three floors, offering customers an extensive range of food, fashion, home, and beauty products.

Highlighting its food offerings, the new store will feature a massive 17,000 sq ft fresh market-style foodhall. Patrons can enjoy in-store bakery delights, fresh produce sourced from over 1,200 local M&S Select Farms across the South West, and a variety of sandwiches, salads, and wraps designed for quick, convenient meals. Additionally, a 200-seat M&S Coffee Shop will serve a selection of breakfast rolls, toasties, and barista-crafted coffee made with the iconic Roast and Ritual fairtrade house blend, alongside refreshing iced beverages.

Fox fashion and beauty lovers, the store will showcase one of the largest beauty departments in the UK, the latest autumn/winter Autograph collections, and a stylish kidswear range.

This new Bristol location is part of M&S’s broader £300 million investment plan, which includes the opening of sixteen stores across the UK this financial year—Bath Southgate being another notable nearby location.

The arrival of M&S in Cabot Circus is expected to create over 100 new jobs. Recruitment efforts are underway, with positions open in areas such as the coffee shop, visual merchandising, customer service, and warehouse operations.

This launch marks M&S’s return to Bristol city centre after the closure of its Broadmead department store in January 2022. Ali Ivery, regional manager at M&S, stated: “Bristol, we are back! Our Cabot Circus flagship will be one of the most modern stores in the UK, offering the very best of M&S food, fashion, home, and beauty. Customers can look forward to innovative products, state-of-the-art features, and more of that M&S magic—just in time for the festive season.”

Cabot Circus is owned and managed by Hammerson. Toby Tait, director of asset management at Hammerson, expressed excitement over M&S’s return, emphasizing the high customer demand and the store’s potential to boost the festive period. He also noted upcoming additions to Cabot Circus, including a new cinema next year, enriching its retail and leisure offerings and reinforcing its status as a vibrant community hub.

M&S’s history in Bristol dates back to 1900, with previous locations across the city including Castle Street and East Street. To keep customers informed about the Cabot Circus launch and updates, a dedicated M&S Bristol Facebook page has been launched.
