Iconic rock band Manic Street Preachers has joined forces with Resolution Records in Bath to back a charity raffle for mental health charity Mind. The band has autographed vinyl editions of their albums, and all proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the cause.
Ruby Lawson, a 19-year-old student and part-time employee at Resolution Records, has organized the raffle, with half of the proceeds going to Newport Mind and the other half to Bath Mind, in recognition of her Welsh roots and current residence in Bath. The band’s bassist, Nicky Wire, readily offered his support, given his longstanding connection to Lawson’s family.
Mental health holds a significant place in the band’s story, particularly after guitarist Richey Edwards' battle with depression and subsequent disappearance in 1995. Through this initiative, Lawson aims to emphasize the importance of mental well-being across all age groups.

The resurgence of vinyl has propelled the raffle, with 6.7 million vinyl discs sold nationally in 2024. Lawson attributes this “vinyl revival” to the tangible experience it offers, in contrast to the fleeting nature of digital streaming.
Moreover, as the music industry grapples with the impact of streaming on artists' earnings, the raffle sheds light on the inequitable royalties distribution. The event, which will take place on 29th April at Resolution Records, offers participants the chance to win signed LPs by contributing £5 for a single entry or £10 for six entries.
In an era where mental health concerns are prevalent, the collaboration between Manic Street Preachers and Resolution Records serves as a beacon of hope. For those in need of mental health support, avenues for assistance are available.
