Man Who Dyed Hair to Evade Police Jailed for Gruesome Dorset Stabbing

Joshua Moore, 21, has been sentenced to five years in prison for a violent stabbing in Sturminster Newton, Dorset, following a brutal assault on a woman. On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Moore kicked a woman in her 30s in the face while they were on a communal staircase, leaving her with bruising around her right eye.

A male friend of the victim intervened and confronted Moore about the attack. During the confrontation, Moore stabbed the man multiple times with a four-inch lock knife, inflicting three injuries to his body and arm. The victim required hospital treatment for the wounds. After the incident, Moore fled on foot, prompting a police search.

In an attempt to avoid capture, Moore left Dorset and dyed his hair from blond to jet black. He was ultimately located at a hotel in Petersfield, Hampshire, on Thursday, October 2, and was arrested by Dorset Police.

At trial, Moore was found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and assault by beating. Sentenced on Friday, June 5, 2026, he will serve five years in prison.

Detective Constable Emma Oram of Dorset County CID emphasized the severity of the attack, stating, “This was a violent stabbing that caused serious injuries, with the potential for even worse consequences. Our team is dedicated to tackling knife crime and ensuring those responsible face justice.” She also praised the police investigation that tracked Moore despite his efforts to hide.
