Man Suffers Severe Facial Injuries in Early Morning Attack in Weston-super-Mare

A man and woman in their early twenties were assaulted late Saturday night in Weston-super-Mare, prompting an ongoing police investigation.

The couple was walking home across Hildesheim Bridge between 4 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, when they were approached by an unknown male. According to Avon and Somerset Police, after a brief verbal exchange, the attacker violently assaulted the man, causing him to lose consciousness and sustain significant facial injuries that required hospitalization. The victim has since been discharged and is recovering at home.

The female companion was pushed during the incident, resulting in a minor back injury as she tried to intervene.

Authorities have described the suspect as a white male in his mid to late twenties, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with blond hair. At the time of the attack, he was reportedly wearing blue jeans, a beige coat, and a cap.

Investigators are appealing to the public for any information or sightings of a man matching this description in the Weston-super-Mare area during the late hours of May 2 and early hours of May 3.
