Man Rescued After Fall on South West Coast Path Near Porlock Weir

On Thursday, July 2, a man was successfully rescued after sustaining a leg injury during a fall along the South West Coast Path near Porlock Weir. The Exmoor Search and Rescue Team was alerted by the South West Ambulance Service Trust to provide assistance to the injured walker.

Nine rescuers, including two skilled medical technicians, responded to the call as evening approached. The team located the man approximately one kilometre from the nearest road, where he was unable to put weight on his injured leg.

Following the initial assessment, a follow-on team brought a stretcher equipped with vacuum splints to stabilize the injury. The man was carefully secured in a casualty bag on a wheeled stretcher and safely transported back to the road access point, where he awaited ambulance transfer.
