Man Pleads Guilty to Upskirting Teenage Girls in Tesco Store

Karl Noble of All Saints Road, Weymouth, has pleaded guilty to an upskirting offence after targeting a group of teenage girls inside a Tesco Express on Portland Road. On June 16, 2023, Noble followed the girls into the store and then crouched by a low shelf to place his phone under one girl’s skirt, taking multiple covert photographs without her consent.

A vigilant member of the public witnessed the act and confronted Noble, who promptly fled the store. CCTV footage later captured him reviewing and deleting the images. Following an investigation, Noble was arrested and charged with operating equipment beneath clothing without permission.

He received a two-year community order, which includes 120 hours of unpaid work and 46 days of rehabilitation. Additionally, Noble was ordered to pay £514 in court costs, placed on the Sexual Offenders Register, and subjected to a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Police Constable Nathan Busby of County CID praised the victim, her family, and the witness for their courage and assistance in bringing Noble to justice. He emphasized that sexual offences, including upskirting, are taken very seriously and encouraged victims and witnesses to come forward. “You will be listened to, and incidents will be thoroughly investigated,” Busby added, underlining that upskirting is a criminal offence with serious legal consequences.
