Peter Cox, 32, of Newnton Grove, Malmesbury, has pleaded guilty to sexually communicating with a 15-year-old girl via social media and breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). He appeared before Swindon Magistrates' Court on November 20 and has been remanded into custody ahead of his sentencing, scheduled for January 9 at Swindon Crown Court.
Cox’s SHPO prohibited him from communicating, either in person or online, with any female under 16 without parental or guardian consent. Despite this, he knowingly engaged in inappropriate communication with the minor.
Wiltshire Police emphasized that remanding Cox into custody prevents him from offending further prior to sentencing. Police Constable Luke Lo Bianco, from the Volume Crime Team, commented on Cox’s deliberate violation of the order and the impact on the victim and their family, highlighting the court’s firm response to protect the public.
