Man pleads guilty to manslaughter in Clifton Suspension Bridge suitcase murders

Yostin Andres Mosquera, the man accused of murdering two individuals, dismembering their bodies, and disposing of their remains in suitcases near the Clifton Suspension Bridge, has entered a plea of guilty to the manslaughter of one victim during a hearing at the Old Bailey. However, he denies the charges of murder.

Mosquera, 35, is charged with the murders of Albert Alfonso, 62, and Paul Longworth, 71, on or before July 11 last year in London. Despite his plea, the prosecution does not accept it, and Mosquera will face trial over both alleged murders.

The unsettling chain of events began with a man behaving suspiciously on the bridge just before midnight on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Subsequently, human remains were discovered inside suitcases on the bridge and in a nearby area.

As the landmark was closed and a double murder inquiry commenced, law enforcement agencies worked tirelessly to unravel the circumstances surrounding the grisly discovery. Eventually, a 34-year-old suspect was apprehended in the Bristol area on July 13, 2024.
