Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for information following a violent assault in Highbridge. The incident occurred on Church Street around 11pm on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, involving an altercation between two men. One man, in his late fifties, was knocked unconscious and severely assaulted while on the ground.
The victim sustained a fractured eye socket, broken nose, and a cut beneath his left eye. He was hospitalized for treatment but has since been discharged to recover at home. Police remain in contact with him and have offered support services.
Extensive investigations are underway, including CCTV footage analysis, house-to-house inquiries, witness interviews, and intelligence checks. Forensic examinations continue as officers work to piece together the events leading up to the attack.

Authorities have released images of a man they wish to speak to, believing he may hold crucial information. The individual is described as white, approximately 30 years old, around 6 feet tall, slim build, with short dark hair, and was wearing an Under Armour T-shirt and black shorts at the time.
Detective Constable Rachel Biggs from the Criminal Investigation Department stated, “This was a terrible assault, and the victim has no memory of the incident. We urge anyone with information—no matter how small—to come forward. We do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the public as the parties involved were known to each other, and there are no similar incidents nearby.”
