Avon and Somerset Police have released CCTV images as part of an active investigation into a violent assault that occurred in Highbridge. The incident took place on Church Street at approximately 11 PM on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, involving an altercation between two men.
The victim, a man in his late fifties, was violently assaulted and knocked unconscious. He sustained serious injuries including a fractured eye socket, a broken nose, and a cut under his left eye. He was quickly taken to hospital and has since been discharged to recover at home. Police remain in contact with him and have offered support services to aid his recovery.
Extensive investigations are underway, including CCTV analysis, door-to-door inquiries, witness interviews, intelligence checks, and forensic examinations. Authorities have now appealed to the public for assistance to identify a man they believe may hold crucial information about the incident.

The individual in question is described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, about 6 feet tall, with a slim build and short dark hair. At the time, he was wearing an Under Armour T-shirt and black shorts.
Detective Constable Rachel Biggs of the Criminal Investigations Department stated: “This was an awful assault, and the victim has no memory of the event. We urge anyone with information, regardless of how insignificant it might seem, to come forward. We believe the parties involved were known to each other, and there is no ongoing risk to the public.”
