Joshua Moore, 21, has been sentenced to five years in prison after a violent attack in Sturminster Newton, Dorset. Moore assaulted a woman by kicking her in the face and subsequently stabbed a man multiple times during the ensuing confrontation.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, when Moore attacked a woman he knew on a communal staircase. The woman, in her 30s, sustained bruising around her right eye. A man, also in his 30s and a friend of the woman, confronted Moore over the assault. During this altercation, Moore stabbed him with a four-inch lock knife, inflicting three wounds to his body and arm. The victim was hospitalized for treatment.
Following the attack, Moore fled the scene on foot. Despite an initial search, Dorset Police were unable to locate him. However, a thorough investigation led officers to a hotel in Petersfield, Hampshire, where Moore was found on Thursday, October 2. Interestingly, Moore had dyed his hair from blond to jet black in an effort to conceal his identity.

Originating from Weymouth, Moore was arrested and charged. He was found guilty at trial of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and assault by beating.
Detective Constable Emma Oram of Dorset County CID commented on the case: “This was a violent assault with a knife that caused serious injuries; the outcome could have been far worse or fatal. We are dedicated to combating knife crime and ensuring those responsible face justice. Our investigation was instrumental in tracking down the defendant even after he left the county.”
