A 22-year-old man from Trowbridge has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for violently targeting two pedestrians with his car in a shocking act of road rage retaliation.
Braden Lynam, of Woodborough Close, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. At Winchester Crown Court in April, he admitted to the offences, and on August 29, he received a custodial sentence of four years and eight months, along with a five-year driving ban.
The incident occurred on March 27 in Salisbury, following a physical altercation between Lynam and a man in his 40s, which was being broken up by a woman in her 20s. Shortly after, Lynam deliberately accelerated his blue Ford Focus towards the pair. The collision caused life-altering injuries to the male victim and serious, though non-life-threatening, injuries to the female.

After the crash, Lynam fled the scene, abandoning his vehicle on Churchfields Road. He evaded authorities until his arrest four days later, on March 31.
Detective Constable Louise Butler commented on the case: “Lynam’s actions were horrendous and have resulted in one victim suffering life-changing leg injuries. It is fortunate the outcome was not worse, as he could have easily taken two lives. His decision to flee the scene, leaving his victims seriously injured, is utterly unacceptable. There is no place for this type of violence in our county, and I am satisfied justice has been served with this sentence.”
