Man Jailed for Assaulting Woman on Wiltshire Street

A man from Trowbridge has been sentenced to prison for assaulting a woman on a street in Wiltshire. Jason Prior, 41, was convicted of assault by beating following an incident on Bythesea Road on the evening of Tuesday, June 2. Despite denying the charge, he was sentenced to 23 weeks in custody, nearing the maximum sentence for this offence.

In addition to the assault conviction, Prior was found guilty of possession of cannabis and received a concurrent three-week prison sentence. He is also subject to a restraining order that prohibits any contact with the victim.

Police Constable Emma Hensberg commended the victim for her bravery, noting that her actions helped ensure the perpetrator was held accountable and may prevent future abuse of others.
