A man in his 80s tragically lost his life in a collision on the A39 near Chilton Polden, Somerset, this afternoon (July 31). The crash involved a black Citroen C4 Cactus and a Mercedes lorry, with emergency services responding promptly after reports came in at 1:30 pm.
Despite the efforts of medical teams at the scene, the driver of the Citroen was pronounced dead. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the fatality and expressed condolences to the bereaved family, who are receiving support from a dedicated family liaison officer.
