A man in his twenties was arrested following a serious crash on Brendon Road, Watchet, Somerset, on the evening of February 6. The incident involved a blue Ford C-Max and occurred around 6:10 pm, resulting in a passenger sustaining serious injuries.
Emergency services arrived to find the passenger in need of urgent medical attention, and he was rushed to hospital. The driver, however, was not at the scene when police arrived, prompting an investigation.
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the man was arrested several hours later on suspicion of multiple driving-related offences. These include causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of both alcohol and drugs.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police stated: “The passenger remains in hospital, and his family has been informed. We are keen to speak with anyone who saw the vehicle before the crash or witnessed the collision, including those with CCTV or dashcam footage.”
