A 22-year-old man from Bath, Alfie Curtis, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker, a police officer, at Bath Magistrates' Court. The incident occurred when police officers arrived at Curtis’s home on September 15, 2024, to arrest him. Curtis resisted arrest and verbally confronted the officers during the incident. The court was informed that Curtis had no prior convictions and felt overwhelmed by the situation. Additionally, the defense highlighted the distress of Curtis’s mother and a 16-year-old present at the time, and mentioned Curtis’s perseverance after losing sight in one eye due to an earlier accident. The court sentenced Curtis to an 18-month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £250 in compensation to the police officer.
