Man falls ill after contact with unknown substance

A man in his 40s became unwell after being exposed to an undisclosed “substance” in Wiltshire on March 28. Emergency services assessed him at his residence in Charles Road, Durrington, near Stonehenge. Fortunately, he tested negative and did not require hospitalization, prompting the removal of the nearby cordon that had been put in place.

Acknowledging the community’s apprehension due to past events, Chief Inspector Graham McLaughlin emphasized the seriousness with which the incident was handled, also expressing gratitude to the specialized resources and emergency services involved, as well as the public’s patience and cooperation.

The mention of “recent history” by the inspector possibly alludes to the 2018 Salisbury Poisonings, where individuals in the same area fell critically ill due to nerve agent exposure, prompting a nationwide concern.
