Man Dies in Frome Road Crash After Medical Episode; Woman Hospitalized

A tragic two-car collision on Frome Road, Trowbridge, claimed the life of an elderly man this morning, Wednesday, April 8. Emergency services were called to the scene near the Somerset border at approximately 9:10 a.m.

The accident involved a Volkswagen Polo and a Peugeot 208. The driver of the Polo, a man in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities believe he suffered a medical episode while driving, which caused the crash. His next of kin have been informed.

A female passenger in the Polo, in her 70s, sustained potentially serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The Peugeot’s driver sustained minor injuries.

The collision led to the temporary closure of Frome Road, part of the A361, between Pittman Avenue and Manor Road junctions. The road has since reopened following police investigations and vehicle recovery.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson stated, “At around 9:10 a.m., we responded to a collision involving a Volkswagen Polo and a Peugeot 208. Despite emergency efforts, the Polo driver was declared deceased at the scene. It is believed he suffered a medical episode prior to the crash.”

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
