A tragic accident near Chew Valley Lake has claimed the life of a man in his 70s. Emergency services responded to a two-vehicle collision on Bath Road, West Harptree, at approximately 7:40 pm on Monday, July 13.
Despite rapid intervention, the elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers. A young woman involved in the crash was hospitalised but has since been discharged after receiving treatment.
The crash led to the closure of Bath Road in both directions for nearly 12 hours, with the road reopening around 8:00 am on Tuesday, July 14.
