Man Dies in A371 Crash Near Wells, Two Others Seriously Injured

A tragic collision on the A371 near Wells, Somerset, resulted in the death of a man and left two others critically injured yesterday afternoon.

Avon and Somerset Police responded to the two-vehicle crash shortly after 3 pm on Wednesday, February 18. The incident occurred in Dinder, between Shepton Mallet and Wells, involving an Audi S3 and a Volkswagen Golf.

The driver of the Volkswagen Golf, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle veered off the road and came to rest in a nearby field. Authorities have informed his next of kin and are providing support through a specialist family liaison officer.

Meanwhile, the two occupants of the Audi S3, also in their 30s, sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital. Their families have been notified, and police continue to update them as the investigation progresses.

The A371 was closed for several hours during the police inquiry but has since reopened. Officers are appealing to the public for assistance. They are seeking witnesses or anyone with doorbell, dashcam, or CCTV footage that could aid the ongoing investigation.
