A tragic incident unfolded at Wellington Sports Centre in Somerset on Tuesday, September 2, when a staff member suffered a medical emergency and passed away on site. The centre confirmed the death, which occurred around 5pm, and temporarily closed to allow emergency responders to attend the scene.
The South Western Ambulance Service and Avon and Somerset Police were dispatched promptly. Police have stated that although the cause of death has not yet been officially determined, there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a heartfelt message on Facebook, Wellington Sports Centre expressed their sorrow: “We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing of a colleague yesterday. We kindly ask for your understanding as we respect the privacy of their family during this difficult time.”
