Darren Howard, 38, of Westmead Crescent, Trowbridge, has been charged with several serious offences, including three counts of rape. He appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on the morning of Wednesday, October 29, where he was formally charged and remanded into custody.
Alongside the rape charges, Howard faces allegations of section 18 grievous bodily harm, false imprisonment, and controlling and coercive behaviour. His next court appearance, a plea hearing, is scheduled for November 28 at Swindon Crown Court.
Detective Sergeant Ben Brewster from Wiltshire Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) praised the swift and coordinated efforts between Central CID and response teams. “This case was reported to police on Monday, and thanks to excellent collaboration, we were able to quickly respond to the victim, arrest the suspect, submit the case to the Crown Prosecution Service, and secure a court hearing promptly,” he said.
