Man Charged with Drink Driving After Lorry Overturns on A303

A man has been charged with drink driving following a lorry crash on the A303 near the Somerset-Wiltshire border. The incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, February 21, when a lorry transporting fruit and vegetables struck the nearside barrier and overturned.

The collision caused significant damage to a substantial stretch of the barrier, and the lorry was also damaged. Additionally, diesel spilled across the road, leading to the closure of the westbound carriageway on the A303.

Ion Triboi, 51, from Moldova, has been charged with drink driving in connection with the crash. Wiltshire Police confirmed that Triboi has been remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 23.

In an official statement, Wiltshire Police said: “Ion Triboi, 51, a Moldovan national, has been charged with drink driving and remanded into custody. This relates to a road traffic collision in which an HGV overturned on the A303 westbound carriageway on Saturday morning.”
