A man has been charged with drink driving following a lorry crash on the A303 near the Somerset-Wiltshire border. The incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, February 21, when the lorry, loaded with fruit and vegetables, struck the nearside barrier.
The collision caused extensive damage to a substantial stretch of the barrier, and diesel from the vehicle spilled across the road, prompting the closure of the major route. The lorry itself was also significantly damaged when it overturned.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that Ion Triboi, a 51-year-old Moldovan national, has been charged with drink driving in connection with the crash. Triboi has been remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on Monday, February 23.

A police statement said: “Ion Triboi, 51, a Moldovan national, has been charged with drink driving and remanded into custody. This relates to a road traffic collision in which an HGV overturned on the A303 westbound carriageway on Saturday morning.”
