Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following Home Attack in Yeovil

A 32-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of a woman in her 50s who was attacked in her Yeovil home. The victim sustained a neck injury and contacted emergency services in the early hours of Sunday, February 8.

Avon and Somerset Police responded quickly, arresting Colin Thorne of Kiddles, Yeovil, within three hours of the incident. The woman received hospital treatment but was discharged later that day.

Thorne appeared at Yeovil Magistrates' Court on Monday, February 9. He is scheduled to appear at Taunton Crown Court on Monday, March 9.

Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Andrew Pritchard expressed well wishes for the victim’s recovery and praised the swift police response. He also confirmed that searches and investigations at the suspect’s address have concluded, assuring the public that there is no ongoing threat.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson added that Thorne has been remanded into custody while awaiting his next court appearance.
