Man Charged Following Stabbing Incident in Quiet North Somerset Village

A 37-year-old man, Daniel Harrison, is set to appear in court today (Saturday, July 5) after being charged in connection with an alleged stabbing that occurred last week in the tranquil North Somerset village of Claverham, near Bristol. Harrison faces charges of assault causing grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article.

Harrison, who is of no fixed address, was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the incident on Thursday afternoon, July 3. Police responded to reports of a man in his 40s suffering serious injuries on the High Street of Claverham. The victim was promptly taken to hospital and stabilized, with medical staff confirming that his injuries are no longer life-threatening.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder: Daniel Harrison and a 25-year-old man whose name has not been released. The younger man has since been released on police bail while investigations continue.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police stated: “Daniel Harrison has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article related to the incident in Claverham on July 3. The victim remains hospitalized in stable condition. Harrison has been remanded into police custody ahead of his appearance at North Somerset Magistrates' Court today. The 25-year-old has been released on bail as inquiries proceed.”

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this violent incident in what is otherwise a quiet community.
