A 21-year-old man is due to appear in court next month following a tragic collision in Rode in January that resulted in the death of a young man.
Avon and Somerset Police investigated a single-vehicle crash at Rode Common, close to the junction of the A361 and Rode Hill near Frome. The incident occurred at approximately 1.45am on Sunday, 17 January, when a black BMW travelling towards Trowbridge collided with a tree.
Emergency services responded promptly, but sadly, the front-seat passenger, 20-year-old Alfie Belcher, died at the scene. A man in his twenties was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after receiving treatment at a hospital.

Police have now confirmed that the Crown Prosecution Service has authorised charges against 21-year-old Alfie Seviour of Frome. He faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving without due care while unfit through drink, and causing death by driving a vehicle unlicensed and uninsured.
Seviour is scheduled to appear at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 6 October.
The family of Alfie Belcher continue to receive updates and support from a specially trained family liaison officer as investigations proceed.
