A 65-year-old man, Paul Labuschagne of Kings Street, Bridgwater, has been charged with possession of a firearm following a police operation at his property. The Avon and Somerset Police conducted a pre-planned raid on Saturday, June 13, which resulted in Labuschagne’s arrest.
During the operation, officers discovered a suspected ordnance, prompting concerns for public safety. Bomb disposal experts were called in and confirmed that the device did not pose a wider risk to the community.
Labuschagne appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Monday, June 15, where he was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear next at Taunton Crown Court on Friday, July 17.
