Man Attempts Murder Inside Butcher’s Shop

A man, Kubilay Bostanli, has been sentenced for attempting to murder another man last summer. Bostanli was found guilty by trial in January after stabbing a man twice in the neck.

On June 29, 2024, Bostanli attacked his victim, a man in his 20s, near Sidmouth Street, Devizes, at around 12.30pm. The victim was physically assaulted inside the butcher’s shop before being chased to Estcourt Street. When police arrived, Bostanli assaulted the police officer who was trying to detain him.

The 27-year-old victim suffered two stab wounds to his neck and other facial and ear injuries. Bostanli has been sent to a psychiatric unit and given an indefinite restraining order for attempted murder, and has also been sentenced for assaulting an emergency worker.

PC Crabbe, who attended the incident, was commended by former High Sheriff Dr Olivia Chapple, along with three residents who helped protect the victim. Chief Superintendent Guy Elkins expressed pride in PC Crabbe’s bravery, emphasizing the importance of policing in protecting people and delivering justice.

PC Crabbe has been nominated for a Police Bravery Award, with winners to be announced during an event in July in London.
