A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a serious assault in Taunton town centre. The incident took place early Friday morning on Castle Street.
Emergency services were alerted at 6:35 a.m. after the ambulance service called police regarding a severe assault. The victim, a man in his mid-30s, was rushed to hospital with injuries initially deemed life-threatening. Thankfully, he has since been discharged from hospital.
Another man, also in his mid-30s, has been detained and remains in police custody as investigations continue. Avon and Somerset Police have established that the individuals involved are known to each other, and they do not believe there is any ongoing danger to the public.

A police scene guard remains in place as officers work to gather more information.
