Man Armed with Knife Attempts Robbery Near Bath Train Station

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man caught on CCTV following an attempted robbery involving a knife near Bath Railway Station last month.

According to Avon and Somerset Police, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14. The victim, a man in his mid-forties, was wheeling his bicycle away from the station on Dorchester Street when an unknown attacker approached him.

The suspect grabbed the victim’s arm and attempted to kick him before brandishing a knife. Despite the threat, the victim managed to defend himself, causing the assailant to fall to the ground. The victim then seized his bike and quickly left the scene. Fortunately, he was not physically injured but was left visibly shaken by the ordeal.

Following the incident, police conducted high-visibility patrols, reviewed CCTV footage, and collected witness statements as part of their ongoing investigation.

Authorities describe the suspect as a Black male, approximately 6 feet 1 to 3 inches tall, slim build, dressed entirely in black, including a face mask and black hat.

PC Bethanie-Rose Ambrose, leading the case, stated, “We understand that incidents involving weapons in public places can deeply concern the community. We want to assure everyone that this case is being taken very seriously, with active investigations underway.”

She added that additional patrols have been deployed to maintain safety in the area and urged the public to stay alert and report any information that could aid the investigation.
