Jardox, a leading food manufacturing company in Somerset, is seeking approval to expand its existing operations near the A303. The proposal involves constructing a new warehouse on an agricultural field west of its current site on Saxon Way, within Wincanton Business Park.
The expansion would add 20,000 square meters of space dedicated to production, storage, and distribution of a broad range of savoury ingredients, including stocks, gravies, curry pastes, marinades, seasonings, herbs, and spices. Jardox currently operates two UK bases, with its other facility located in Sevenoaks, Kent.
This development could create up to 20 new jobs, providing a valuable boost to the local economy. To improve traffic flow, the plans include implementing a one-way system within the factory site, facilitating smoother transport to and from the A303. In addition, around 20 new staff and visitor parking spaces will be added.

Western Design Architects, representing Jardox, emphasized that the expansion will not negatively impact local businesses. Instead, the updated traffic system is expected to reduce congestion around Murray Way and Saxon Way. The site’s strong road network should comfortably accommodate the projected increase in staff commuting.
Somerset Council is anticipated to reach a decision on the application by late spring, potentially allowing construction to commence in the summer. Notably, since Wincanton is outside the Somerset Levels and Moors catchment area, Jardox is not required to submit additional phosphate mitigation measures.
This expansion reflects Jardox’s commitment to growth and strengthening its presence in Somerset, while also supporting local employment and infrastructural improvements.
