Mahalia’s Kitchen, a beloved street food stall in Somerset, has been chosen as a finalist in the ‘Best Street Food Trader’ category at the National UK Caribbean Food Awards. The stall, described as a brilliant local trader, is set to compete with three other finalists from Kent, Nottingham, and London. The award ceremony, in partnership with Deliveroo and KERB, will take place on December 9, 2024, at The Clapham Grand in London.
Owner Mahalia Purchase expressed her gratitude on Facebook, acknowledging the nomination and proudly representing Guyanese cuisine in the South West. The awards, founded by Dawn Burton and Marsha Barnett, celebrate the excellence of Caribbean cuisine across the UK with a diverse range of categories, honoring both restaurants and individuals.
The event features a cook-off competition for the ‘Best Caribbean Takeaway’ category, and the winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony.
