M5 Collision Traps Driver After Car Hits Central Reservation

Late last night, a serious accident on the M5 northbound resulted in a three-vehicle collision and left one driver trapped inside their car. The incident occurred between junctions 25 and 24, prompting the closure of two lanes as emergency services attended the scene.

According to Avon and Somerset Police, one vehicle struck the central reservation before being hit by a second car that subsequently left the carriageway. A third vehicle was damaged by debris from the crash. The driver trapped inside the first vehicle was rescued by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue crews, who used specialized tools to safely extricate them.

Fire service officials confirmed crews from Taunton and Bridgwater swiftly responded to the call, working diligently to free the trapped driver and secure the vehicle. Paramedics treated the injured driver at the scene, reporting minor injuries.

The police statement detailed the timeline of the incident, with emergency teams arriving shortly after the collision at approximately 11:35 PM on Wednesday, 29 October. After thorough clearance, both lanes reopened by 1:05 AM, restoring normal traffic flow.
