Lovehoney, the well-known sex toy retailer, is set to expand its warehouse in Bath following the approval of extension plans by the Bath and North East Somerset Council. On Wednesday, July 16, the council gave the go-ahead for an additional storey to be added to the company’s Locksbrook Road warehouse.
The decision was met with no objections during the public consultation, reflecting community acceptance of the modest project. Construction must commence within three years, ensuring that the warehouse—located opposite the scenic River Avon and near a Grade II listed pub—will grow thoughtfully within its surroundings.
Council officers emphasized that the proposed flat-roofed extension will be subordinate to the main building and built using matching materials to preserve the site’s character. Since the expansion will not increase staff numbers, no additional parking or traffic impact is expected.

Lovehoney’s warehouse has faced some local concerns in the past, notably in 2024 when residents complained about noise from heat pumps disrupting their sleep. A noise impact assessment revealed that some pumps started operating as early as 4 a.m., prompting complaints to local authorities.
The company responded by highlighting that these government-approved air source heat pumps are part of its commitment to sustainability, aiming to reduce both energy consumption and carbon emissions.
Founded in Bath in 2002, Lovehoney has grown into a significant local employer with over 260 staff members. Despite facing financial challenges—including a profit decline of more than 50% in 2023—the company continues to invest in its Bath operations with this warehouse expansion.
