Local pub transforms into fanzone with giant screen for Euro 2024

The Great Lyde pub, located on Cavalier Way, is set to host a unique experience for football fans in Yeovil. Landlord Michael Krzyzanowski has invested over £20,000 to bring the Euros to the community with a dedicated fanzone in their pub car park. The setup includes a six-by-four metre screen, stage, marquee, and various amenities for the tournament. The fanzone is designed to accommodate up to 500 enthusiastic revellers.

James Krzyzanowski, the pub’s landlord, expressed his excitement about the fanzone, highlighting its inclusive nature. Families, friends, and fans can gather to enjoy the games together in a lively and festive atmosphere. The event also aims to bring a new experience to Yeovil, providing a space for communal appreciation of major sports events.

Striving to offer a comprehensive experience, the fanzone will feature a variety of activities for all ages. A family fun zone will include a bouncy castle, face painting, a beat the goalie game, and arts and crafts for children. In addition, live music performances, food trucks, and outside bars will add to the vibrant atmosphere for attendees.

The pub has carefully priced tickets for the fanzone, with free entry for under 12s and reasonable fees for different stages of the tournament. Measures have been put in place to address concerns raised by the authorities, ensuring the event complies with regulations and remains a positive experience for all attendees.

The Great Lyde pub is expecting high turnout, with tickets already sold out for the first England game against Serbia. Despite initial objections, the pub has secured approval for the temporary fanzone, emphasizing their commitment to addressing potential concerns raised by local authorities.

James remains optimistic about England’s performance in the tournament and invites the community to share the excitement. Tickets for the fanzone can be purchased directly from the pub or through their website.
