Living with Crohn’s: Scarlett Luxe’s Journey

Scarlett Luxe, an energetic Somerset girl, experienced a sudden decline in her health at just 14 years old while preparing for her GCSEs. Previously active and passionate about dance, Scarlett found herself constantly fatigued and in need of extra sleep.

At 15, Scarlett was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, leaving her bewildered and fearful of her future. Stating “I thought I was dying!”, Scarlett embarked on the challenging journey of coming to terms with her chronic condition.

Living with Crohn’s disease is unpredictable and challenging, with potential for unbearable pain and limitations on daily life. Scarlett has embraced a new perspective, adopting her vintage persona, Scarlett Luxe, and pursuing a career in acting and modeling. She has actively engaged in raising awareness for Crohn’s and Colitis UK, aiming to increase understanding of Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Scarlett emphasizes the importance of taking one day at a time and dispels misconceptions about her condition, most notably the belief that simple dietary changes can cure Crohn’s. In reality, there is no cure, and management typically involves medication and a carefully balanced diet.

Despite the challenges, Scarlett remains determined to live her best life and offer hope to others facing similar diagnoses. She encourages those facing a lifelong condition to continue pursuing their dreams and aspirations, believing that anything is possible.

As World IBD Day approaches on May 19th, Scarlett’s story serves as a source of inspiration for individuals living with Crohn’s and Colitis.
