Lidl Unveils Ambitious Multi-Million Pound Redevelopment Plan for Keynsham Industrial Estate

Lidl has announced its intention to build a new, modern supermarket in Keynsham after acquiring the Jewson Merchants Builders site. This development is set to spur a multi-million pound regeneration of the local industrial estate.

The proposed store will be situated on Broadmead Lane, directly opposite the existing Waitrose and near popular food outlets like Domino’s and KFC. The supermarket chain plans to submit a formal planning application in the coming weeks.

Daniel Preece, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB, shared, “We have been eager to serve the Keynsham community with a Lidl store for some time. Our new Broadmead Lane location will offer residents increased shopping variety, new employment opportunities, and access to our award-winning, affordable products. We are committed to delivering the best possible experience and look forward to sharing updates soon.”

The development will feature Lidl’s contemporary store design, including an in-store bakery and the popular “Middle of Lidl” range, ensuring shoppers don’t miss out on exclusive offers.

This announcement follows Lidl’s recent disclosure of plans to invest £500 million in expanding across Somerset. The retailer intends to open eleven new outlets in the county, including three in Bath, as well as stores in Taunton, Weston-super-Mare, Shepton Mallet, Keynsham, and Nailsea. Earlier this year, Lidl opened a new store in Wells and also received approval for a new outlet in Bridgwater.

Richard Taylor, Chief Real Estate Officer at Lidl GB, emphasized the significance of this expansion: “Our investment reflects our ambition to provide convenient access to Lidl stores across the UK. As we approach our thousandth store and enter our fourth decade in Great Britain, areas like Somerset remain high priorities for growth.”

In addition to the Keynsham project, Lidl has revealed numerous new store locations and plans for relocations around Somerset and neighboring counties, aiming to broaden its regional footprint and enhance customer convenience.
