Lidl, the popular discount supermarket chain, has unveiled its ambitious expansion plans for Somerset, revealing the intention to invest over £500 million to open 11 new stores in the area. The supermarket’s 2025 site requirements brochure outlines potential locations for new stores, signaling a significant commitment to growth across the region.
The identified locations for the potential new stores encompass various areas, including three in Bath, along with Taunton, Weston-super-Mare, Shepton Mallet, Keynsham, and Nailsea, among others. This development follows the recent openings of Lidl stores in Wells and Bridgwater, highlighting the brand’s continuous expansion efforts.
Richard Taylor, Chief Real Estate Officer at Lidl GB, emphasized the company’s commitment to expansion, citing the need for increased access to Lidl stores throughout the country.
