Lewis Capaldi and Lorde have surged to the top of the UK charts after electrifying performances at Glastonbury Festival, according to the Official Charts Company.

Lorde, the alternative pop sensation, saw her fourth studio album, Virgin, claim the number one spot on the album chart. She captivated audiences during a secret set at the Woodsies stage on Saturday, performing all 11 tracks from the new release.

Meanwhile, Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi made an emotional return to Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage, delivering a heartfelt 35-minute set that included his new single, Survive. The track quickly rose to number one on the singles chart following the performance.

Capaldi’s appearance marked a poignant comeback, coming two years after he openly struggled with managing his Tourette syndrome symptoms while performing at the same festival. Speaking to Official Charts, Capaldi expressed deep gratitude to his fans for their support: “I’ve been away for a little while, and to come back to this outpouring of love and support has been absolutely incredible. I can’t thank everybody enough for all the kind words since Glastonbury – and now this. It’s been the best week of my life.”

At Glastonbury, Capaldi shared with the crowd, “It’s so good to be back. I’m not going to say much up here today, because if I do, I think I will probably start crying. But it’s just amazing to be here with you all… Second time’s a charm on this one.”

Introducing Survive, he grew visibly emotional, revealing, “The last two years haven’t been the best for me, it’s been difficult at times. This has been my f****** goal, to get back here.” He closed his set with the crowd-favorite Somebody You Loved, a song that had a special connection as fans rallied around him during his previous performance struggles.

Lorde’s Virgin follows a string of successful albums, including Pure Heroine (2013), Melodrama (2017), and Solar Power (2021), all of which reached the UK top 10. The 28-year-old New Zealand-born artist, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor, enthralled the Woodsies audience by performing the entire Virgin album live. She concluded her set with a raucous double encore of Ribs from Pure Heroine and Green Light from Melodrama, prompting a massive singalong from the crowd and dazzling laser light show.

Lorde is renowned for hits such as Homemade Dynamite, Solar Power, and Royals—the latter reaching number one on the UK singles chart and cementing her global stardom.
