Lando Norris to Headline 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed with McLaren

Reigning Formula 1 World Champion Lando Norris is set to make a spectacular return to the iconic Goodwood Estate as a key highlight of the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

McLaren Racing will showcase four of their legendary cars across the weekend, with Norris behind the wheel of the MCL60 on Saturday, July 11. Fans will witness his exhilarating hill climb up to Goodwood House, celebrating Britain’s newest Formula 1 World Champion — only the 11th in the sport’s history.

Marking McLaren Racing’s 60th anniversary, the MCL60 that competed in the 2023 FIA Formula 1 Championship will be driven by Norris on Saturday. Reserve driver Leonardo Fornaroli will handle the MCL60 for the rest of the weekend. Additionally, McLaren will pay tribute to its storied past by running three historic cars: the 1993 MP4/8, the rarely seen MP4/8B, and the 1976 M23.

The MP4/8 carries special significance as Ayrton Senna’s final Formula 1 race winner, having triumphed at the 1993 Australian Grand Prix. Fornung drivers including Fornaroli, Bruno Senna, and Rob Garofall will share driving duties for the MP4/8 over the event.

For the first time since 1993, fans will also see the MP4/8B in public — the final McLaren car driven by Ayrton Senna, featuring a unique Chrysler-Lamborghini V12 engine tested for the 1994 season. This momentous reveal marks its first public appearance in nearly three decades.

The celebration continues with the 50th anniversary of James Hunt’s 1976 World Championship victory. McLaren will display the championship-winning M23 chassis driven by Hunt, with the car performing runs throughout the festival.

Lou McEwen, Chief Marketing Officer at McLaren Racing, expressed enthusiasm for the event: “Goodwood Festival of Speed offers a rare chance for motorsport fans to experience iconic cars and historic moments up close. We’re proud to celebrate our heritage alongside current success, especially marking the 50th anniversary of James Hunt’s championship and Ayrton Senna’s legacy.”

McEwen added, “Lando’s drive in the MCL60 is a special moment, commemorating our recent double Championship win. Goodwood remains one of our year’s standout events, and we can’t wait to reconnect with our papaya family in 2026.”
