World champion Lando Norris remains optimistic about McLaren’s prospects as the Formula 1 season progresses but is cautious about repeating his Monaco success. After a promising second place in the Canadian Grand Prix sprint, Norris faced disappointment in Montreal when a reliability issue forced his retirement from the main race.
While Norris celebrated a memorable victory in Monaco last year, he acknowledges this year’s race will be challenging. He expects Ferrari’s strength on low-speed circuits to make pole position a tough target, particularly with rivals Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc leading the charge.
“Monaco is always unique, and we had a great weekend there last year,” Norris said. “But knowing where we struggle this season means we can’t go in expecting to dominate. Barcelona is the one I’m really excited about because the track suits us better.”

McLaren marks a milestone this weekend with their 1,000th Grand Prix start, celebrating with a special commemorative livery. Currently third in the constructors' standings, they trail Mercedes by 113 points after five rounds.
Team principal Andrea Stella acknowledged a tough start to the season, describing Montreal as “challenging” with issues across all racing aspects. “We’re focused on learning and improving every day,” he said. “The championship isn’t decided yet — we’re determined to fight until Abu Dhabi.”
As McLaren looks forward, the team aims to translate lessons into results, with Norris ready to push hard in Barcelona and beyond.
