Reigning Formula 1 World Champion Lando Norris is set to make a much-anticipated return to the iconic Goodwood Estate as part of the star-studded lineup for the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
McLaren Racing will celebrate its 60th anniversary by running four of its legendary cars throughout the weekend. On Saturday, July 11, Lando Norris will take the wheel of the MCL60, the same car he drove during the 2023 FIA Formula 1 Championship, for a spectacular hill climb up to the front of Goodwood House. This special drive will give fans the unique chance to join in the celebration of Britain’s newest F1 World Champion, marking only the 11th time in the sport’s history a British driver has secured this honor.
In addition to Norris, McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team Reserve Driver Leonardo Fornaroli will drive the MCL60 during the rest of the weekend. McLaren will also honor its remarkable heritage by showcasing three historic cars across all four days: the 1993 MP4/8, the 1993 MP4/8B, and the 1976 M23.

The MP4/8 holds a poignant place in history as Ayrton Senna’s final Grand Prix-winning car, clinching victory at the 1993 Australian Grand Prix. This masterpiece will be driven up the hill by Leonardo Fornaroli, Bruno Senna, and Rob Garofall in rotation, keeping Senna’s legacy alive on British soil.
For the first time since 1993, the rarely seen MP4/8B will make its public debut at Goodwood. This was the last McLaren car Ayrton Senna drove and was used to test a Chrysler-Lamborghini V12 engine for potential 1994 development. Its appearance will be a rare and thrilling treat for motorsport enthusiasts.
This year also marks the 50th anniversary of James Hunt’s 1976 World Championship triumph. To honor this milestone, McLaren will display the M23 chassis Hunt famously drove to victory. Fans will have the opportunity to see this historic car in action throughout the festival.
Lou McEwen, McLaren Racing’s Chief Marketing Officer, expressed excitement about the event: “Goodwood Festival of Speed gives motorsport fans an incredible chance to experience legendary cars and action up close. We’re thrilled to celebrate our rich history and recent successes, including last year’s double Championship win. Bringing the M23, MP4/8, and the MP4/8B back to life, alongside Lando’s climb in the MCL60, truly makes this a special occasion for the team and our fans.”
As always, the Goodwood Festival of Speed promises to be a highlight of the year for McLaren and their passionate papaya family, combining thrilling motorsport moments with a celebration of McLaren’s illustrious past and bright future.
