Kneecap Announces Major South West Shows in New UK Tour

Irish rap trio Kneecap have revealed an extensive UK tour this autumn, spotlighting their largest-ever show in Bristol. The Belfast-based group is set to perform at the Prospect Building in St Philips on Tuesday, November 18, as part of a tour that also includes stops in Bournemouth, Cardiff, Liverpool, and Birmingham.

This tour comes on the heels of their busy schedule, which features ten additional shows, numerous European festivals, and a North American tour slated for October.

While the band is gearing up for this tour, they are also drawing attention to the upcoming court appearance of rapper Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, known as Mo Chara. The 27-year-old faces charges related to displaying a flag in support of the banned terrorist organisation Hezbollah during a London gig. His next court date is scheduled for August 20, and the band has urged fans to rally support outside the court.

Kneecap formed in Belfast in 2017, pioneering Irish-language rap with members Mo Chara and Móglaí Bap delivering lyrics, backed by DJ Próvaí’s beats. Their story was immortalised in a semi-fictionalised film featuring the band narrating their origins alongside actor Michael Fassbender. The film earned a BAFTA earlier this year and marked a legal victory for the band after a court ruled that former UK Government minister Kemi Badenoch was wrong to deny them an arts grant for their youth work in Belfast.

Kneecap’s profile has soared this year amidst the film’s success and the band’s outspoken views on Northern Ireland’s political landscape and the conflict in Gaza. Their controversial stance has sparked debate — including pressure on Glastonbury Festival organisers to cancel their performance, which ultimately went ahead but was not broadcast live by the BBC. They also attracted controversy in the US during their Coachella performance.

Tickets for the UK tour, including the significant Bristol show at the Prospect Building, go on pre-sale tomorrow, Wednesday, with general sales starting Friday, July 18.
