Tributes have poured in for Kevin Thorne, a 49-year-old man described as “kind and caring,” who tragically passed away after being found in the water on Bridge Street, Taunton.
Kevin was discovered in the water on Tuesday, December 9, and despite being rushed to hospital, he sadly died on Monday, December 22.
Police arrested a 30-year-old woman in connection with the incident; however, she has since been released on police bail. Authorities believe the victim and the suspect were known to each other, and there is no ongoing risk to the public.

Kevin’s family released a heartfelt statement on February 27, saying: “Kevin was a son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and a friend to many. He was kind and caring and would help anyone if he could. Kevin was deeply loved not just by his family but by everyone who knew him.
“Losing Kev has been a massive shock to his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. His family is devastated to lose him at such a young age, just 49. He was taken tragically too soon.”
The family has requested privacy during this difficult time and is receiving support from a specially trained police officer. Avon and Somerset Police continue to investigate the incident and urge the public to refrain from speculation.
