Plans to revitalize Keynsham town centre have received formal backing, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the community. The Keynsham Town Centre Regeneration Action Plan outlines a comprehensive strategy that includes improvements to shopfronts, enhanced public realm projects, high street planting, and potential pedestrianisation of the High Street.
Developed in collaboration with Keynsham Town Council and informed by a public consultation that garnered over 400 responses, the plan aims to breathe new life into the town centre. Bath & North East Somerset Council has now endorsed the proposals, setting the stage for transformative change.
Among the highlights, a detailed transport study will explore the possibility of pedestrianising Keynsham High Street. Any such initiative will be undertaken with close involvement from the community, alongside disability advocates, urban planners, traffic engineers, and accessibility experts to ensure the highest standards of safety and usability.

The plan received official approval through a single member decision by Councillor Paul Roper, cabinet member for Economic and Cultural Sustainable Development, following endorsement from Keynsham Town Council.
Councillor Roper commented, “Keynsham is already a vibrant market town, and this Regeneration Action Plan sets out to build on that, identifying opportunities that will attract investment and support future housing and employment growth.
