A devastating fire broke out late Sunday night in Shillingford, Devon, just minutes from the Somerset border, tragically killing four dogs housed in a kennel building.
At approximately 9:35 PM on April 19, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue received reports of a large fire engulfing a shed used as kennels. Upon arrival, firefighters found the building fully involved in flames and swiftly deployed four fire engines and a water bowser to tackle the blaze.
Despite the teams' efforts, the fire severely damaged the 15 by 11-meter structure. Firefighters from Bampton, Dulverton, Wellington, and Wiveliscombe worked through the night, using jets, thermal imaging cameras, and breathing apparatus to control and extinguish the fire over several hours.

Sadly, the rescue teams confirmed that four dogs perished in the fire. Officials have ruled the cause of the incident as accidental. The community remains deeply affected by this heartbreaking event.
